Using
OptionFinder® Technology A Training Enhancement Tool
OptionFinder®
is an electronic polling device that serves as a group decision support
system during training. It is a combination of hand-held numeric keypads
and computer software. The keypads are handed out to the participants
during the training session and the facilitator uses the software to project
onto a large screen a question or statement to the participants, and a
numbered list of possible responses. The participants press the keypad
number of the response that matches their opinion. The OptionFinder®
software takes the keypad responses and instantly produces a graph of
the results. The graph is then projected before the group for all to see.
Sepler &
Associates uses OptionFinder® technology because it allows participants
to explore sensitive issues while retaining their anonymity and personal
comfort. Participants view the tallied responses for group observation
and discussion. This technology is used early in the training program
to establish baseline opinion data from the group, and to validate the
range of participant perspectives, experiences and concerns.
